Nadine Dorries on Question TimeNadine Dorries was laughed at by the BBC Question Time audience as she tried to explain how Reform would stop asylum seekers crossing the English Channel in small boats. The former Tory cabinet minister, who defected to Nigel Farage’s party last month, said Britain would never be able to “protect our own borders” until we leave the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR).Presenter Fiona Bruce pointed out that other countries in Europe have managed to reduce immigration while being in the ECHR.But Dorries said: “The only time in the future when this problem is going to be dealt with with any effectiveness and a plan is going to be delivered, is when the two parties that have completely failed to control this have gone and Reform take power,” she said.As the audience began to laugh, she went on: “Reform are the only party that have a plan in stopping illegal immigrants coming to our shores.“You may laugh, you may not when Reform is in government.”Nadine Dorries, It #39;s incredible we can #39;t protect our own borders, and we never will be able to do that until we leave the ECHR
It #39;s the court that prevents us from sending many of these asylum seekers back

What would leaving the ECHR do to international co-operation? Do you think it would help or hinder?”As Dorries struggled to answer, the audience started to laugh again. She eventually replied: “Help or hinder is totally irrelevant. Our job is to protect our borders.”Related...Analysis: Caerphilly By-Election Result Shows How Nigel Farage Could Be Reform s Achilles HeelBlow For Nigel Farage As Reform UK Fail To Win Key By-Election Rats In A Sack : Reform UK In Meltdown After Axing Four Councillors On Flagship Local Authority
