Trump Official Bummed That Reporter Didn t Publish Every Insulting Thing He Said

Bill Pulte, Director of the Federal Housing Finance AgencyFederal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte had a bit of a meltdown on Sunday because a publication that asked him for a quote didn’t include all of his insults in the published article. It all started after Punchbowl News journalist Brendan Pedersen asked Pulte to comment on statements from various Democratic lawmakers for a story headlined “The Future Of Housing Has Never Been Hazier.”Pulte responded by focusing exclusively on one Democrat: Sen. Elizabeth Warren (Democrat, Massachusetts), who has accused him of abusing his power to help President Donald Trump target political foes and has been trying to find the more than 25,000 tweets he reportedly deleted after the 2024 presidential election.Although Pulte could have used the opportunity to inform readers about the US housing market, he decided to mock Warren’s previous claims of Native American ancestry instead.Punchbowl News opted to leave out the personal attack against Warren and only include the relevant part of Pulte’s quote, however, prompting him to gripe about it on X.“It’s really sad to see the state of ‘journalism,’” Pulte wrote. “They include quotes from Democrats attacking me but leave out my quote where I said this about Elizabeth Warren, ‘Elizabeth Warren is faking an understanding of mortgage finance just like she faked her Native American heritage.’”It’s really sad to see the state of “journalism”. The agency sent back a statement attributable to Pulte that focused only on Warren, saying the Massachusetts Democrat was ‘faking an understanding of mortgage finance.’”In an X post, Pedersen explained why his publication focused on the one relevant statement Pulte made, and not his inflammatory remark about Warren’s heritage.“We included the part of the quote that met our editorial standards for relevancy, not the racial commentary. Thank you for your readership, Mr Pulte,” Pederson wrote. We included the part of the quote that met our editorial standards for relevancy, not the racial commentary.
